Check out Santa Teresa/Malpais on the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica. If you google them on the web you'll get good information. There are plenty of internet cafes with high speed connections, and plenty of places to stay ranging from cheap to expensive. We just got back from 5 weeks down there. My husband is a surfer and he also needed to work via internet... also..great local food..the fish is amazing... It's really best for short boarding--at least it was in Feb/March--not sure about summer.To get from San Jose to Tambor you can fly Sansa Airlines--little 12 seaters that will accept 2 short boards per flight --if you take a bus you can bring a bigger board.
